A New Milestone: Master's in Software and AI Engineering
I recently completed my Master's in Software Engineering with a focus on AI Engineering at Western Governors University.
This is a milestone I'm proud of. I've spent much of my career working across networking, servers, virtualization, storage, and enterprise infrastructure. Along the way, automation became the part of engineering I enjoyed most. I liked finding problems, questioning existing processes, and building solutions rather than simply maintaining systems.
Pursuing software engineering was a deliberate decision to expand beyond infrastructure and automation. After completing my bachelor's degree, continuing into the master's program felt like a natural next step.
AI was particularly interesting because I see it as the next evolution of automation. I've spent years building scripts and predefined workflows, but AI creates opportunities for systems to understand context, tackle less predictable problems, and assist with decisions. I wanted to understand how to engineer those capabilities, not just use the tools.
Earning this degree represents more than another credential. It's the result of building on years of practical experience while pushing myself into new areas of engineering.
I'm excited to take what I've learned and put it to work.
